Description

Fresh, clean and contemporary - that's the Habitat Skandi collection to a tee. With its striking good looks, the sturdy Skandi will create a lounge that is both functional and fabulous. This open unit offers heaps of storage space. The open shelving allows you to display your favourite trinkets. It also keeps those bits and pieces you want to hand; maybe your latest read or your diary. Pretty up the top with a vase of flowers or a treasured family photo. Swish Skandi.

Our Stylist Says

The Habitat Skandi Deep Shelving Unit is a versatile piece that lends itself well to contemporary and minimalist interiors thanks to its clean white finish and natural wood accents. I love it for its practical depth, providing ample space for books, ornaments, or storage baskets, making it perfect for both living rooms and bedrooms. For styling, consider layering books horizontally and vertically, adding small decorative objects or plants on the open shelves to create visual interest. Its Scandinavian-inspired design works beautifully in understated, cosy schemes, but can also add a fresh touch to more eclectic or modern spaces. Keep accessories minimal for a sleek look, or go bold with colourful or textured items to add personality.

About Habitat

Founded in 1964, Habitat are a renowned brand, and a go-to destination for modern and stylish furniture and home accessories.

The Birth of Habitat

In 1964, Sir Terence Conran founded Habitat in London, aiming to bring a fresh European touch to UK home decor.

The first store, located on Fulham Road in Chelsea, became the blueprint for all Habitat stores to come. The store stood out with its distinct design, and was famously known for selling affordable pasta storage jars just as the pasta market began booming in the UK.

Rapid Expansion & Legacy

Habitat grew swiftly in the UK during the 1960s and even crossed borders with its first international store in Paris in 1973.

The brand's journey through the decades saw various mergers and acquisitions, including its integration with Sainsbury's Group in 2017.

Habitat's innovation extended beyond products; they even launched a mail-order system in 1966 and initiated the concept of flat-pack furniture in 1971.

Celebrating its rich history, the brand marked its 50th anniversary in 2014 by collaborating with past designers and commissioning a special logo.

Innovation & Collaboration

Habitat has always been at the forefront of modern design. Throughout its history, the brand has been renowned for its collaborations with acclaimed artists and designers, ensuring it consistently offers unique, limited-edition collections.

Under the umbrella of the Sainsbury's Group since 2017, Habitat continues its tradition of merging contemporary aesthetics with functional design, solidifying its reputation as a leading name in home furnishings.
