Description

Classic kids' bookshelf. Keep books off the floor but in full view so children can easily find their favourites. Made in natural rattan with a golden blond finish, it's designed with rails so books can be displayed with front cover facing outwards without toppling over. Great in bedrooms, nurseries, and playrooms for ready readers.

Our Stylist Says

I love the Habitat rattan wide bookcase for its natural, relaxed aesthetic, making it a versatile piece that works well in both boho and contemporary interiors. Its open design and organic shape lend a light, airy feel, perfect for adding warmth to living rooms, dining areas, or even bedrooms. Practical styling tips include layering books with decorative objects like vases or baskets to enhance its textured look, and pairing it with neutral tones or soft colours to highlight the rattan’s natural hue. It’s ideal for creating a laid-back, eclectic vibe, especially when complemented with other natural materials such as linen or wood.

About Habitat

Founded in 1964, Habitat are a renowned brand, and a go-to destination for modern and stylish furniture and home accessories.

The Birth of Habitat

In 1964, Sir Terence Conran founded Habitat in London, aiming to bring a fresh European touch to UK home decor.

The first store, located on Fulham Road in Chelsea, became the blueprint for all Habitat stores to come. The store stood out with its distinct design, and was famously known for selling affordable pasta storage jars just as the pasta market began booming in the UK.

Rapid Expansion & Legacy

Habitat grew swiftly in the UK during the 1960s and even crossed borders with its first international store in Paris in 1973.

The brand's journey through the decades saw various mergers and acquisitions, including its integration with Sainsbury's Group in 2017.

Habitat's innovation extended beyond products; they even launched a mail-order system in 1966 and initiated the concept of flat-pack furniture in 1971.

Celebrating its rich history, the brand marked its 50th anniversary in 2014 by collaborating with past designers and commissioning a special logo.

Innovation & Collaboration

Habitat has always been at the forefront of modern design. Throughout its history, the brand has been renowned for its collaborations with acclaimed artists and designers, ensuring it consistently offers unique, limited-edition collections.

Under the umbrella of the Sainsbury's Group since 2017, Habitat continues its tradition of merging contemporary aesthetics with functional design, solidifying its reputation as a leading name in home furnishings.
