Description

So slouchy. Sofa-bulous. Our Elmton armchair was made with comfort and style in mind. The handmade contemporary frame, sitting on wooden legs and covered in beautiful Italian, distressed black leather, invites you to curl up and relax. The seats are pocket-sprung, and foam filled for maximum cuddle-up comfort. And the back cushions and deep pillowy arms have a soft fibre filling -minimal plumping required. You'll want first dibs on this one!

Our Stylist Says

This black leather armchair is a versatile piece that works well in both contemporary and traditional interiors. I love its classic yet modern appeal, making it suitable for living rooms, home offices, or even sophisticated lounges. Its deep, plush seat offers great comfort, while the leather finish adds a touch of elegance and durability. To style it effectively, consider pairing with neutral-toned accessories or accent cushions in textured fabrics to soften the leather’s sleekness. It also pairs beautifully with wooden or metal furniture, providing a grounded, timeless look. Practical tips include adding a cosy throw or stacking it with colourful cushions to introduce personality and warmth without overwhelming the aesthetic.

About Habitat

Founded in 1964, Habitat are a renowned brand, and a go-to destination for modern and stylish furniture and home accessories.

The Birth of Habitat

In 1964, Sir Terence Conran founded Habitat in London, aiming to bring a fresh European touch to UK home decor.

The first store, located on Fulham Road in Chelsea, became the blueprint for all Habitat stores to come. The store stood out with its distinct design, and was famously known for selling affordable pasta storage jars just as the pasta market began booming in the UK.

Rapid Expansion & Legacy

Habitat grew swiftly in the UK during the 1960s and even crossed borders with its first international store in Paris in 1973.

The brand's journey through the decades saw various mergers and acquisitions, including its integration with Sainsbury's Group in 2017.

Habitat's innovation extended beyond products; they even launched a mail-order system in 1966 and initiated the concept of flat-pack furniture in 1971.

Celebrating its rich history, the brand marked its 50th anniversary in 2014 by collaborating with past designers and commissioning a special logo.

Innovation & Collaboration

Habitat has always been at the forefront of modern design. Throughout its history, the brand has been renowned for its collaborations with acclaimed artists and designers, ensuring it consistently offers unique, limited-edition collections.

Under the umbrella of the Sainsbury's Group since 2017, Habitat continues its tradition of merging contemporary aesthetics with functional design, solidifying its reputation as a leading name in home furnishings.
