Description

Smooth as silk. Our Drum shade is made from 100% Dupion silk and casts a warm and stylish glow over any room of the house. Crafted in Spain, it's multi-talented, looking great on top of floor lamps or even as a ceiling shade. Chic white suits any home decor style from modern, to Scandi to monochrome. Now that's a bright idea.

Our Stylist Says

This drum shade is a versatile choice that suits a wide range of interior styles thanks to its clean, simple design and soft white tone. I love it for its understated elegance - it adds a touch of refinement without overwhelming the space. It works particularly well in contemporary, Scandinavian, or minimal interiors where subtlety and lightness are key. For styling, consider pairing it with warm filament bulbs to create a cosy atmosphere or mixing it with natural textures like linen or rattan for a layered look. It’s practical too: the neutral colour makes it a good backdrop that can easily be integrated into existing colour schemes, while its size ensures it provides good ambient light without dominating the room.

About Habitat

Founded in 1964, Habitat are a renowned brand, and a go-to destination for modern and stylish furniture and home accessories.

The Birth of Habitat

In 1964, Sir Terence Conran founded Habitat in London, aiming to bring a fresh European touch to UK home decor.

The first store, located on Fulham Road in Chelsea, became the blueprint for all Habitat stores to come. The store stood out with its distinct design, and was famously known for selling affordable pasta storage jars just as the pasta market began booming in the UK.

Rapid Expansion & Legacy

Habitat grew swiftly in the UK during the 1960s and even crossed borders with its first international store in Paris in 1973.

The brand's journey through the decades saw various mergers and acquisitions, including its integration with Sainsbury's Group in 2017.

Habitat's innovation extended beyond products; they even launched a mail-order system in 1966 and initiated the concept of flat-pack furniture in 1971.

Celebrating its rich history, the brand marked its 50th anniversary in 2014 by collaborating with past designers and commissioning a special logo.

Innovation & Collaboration

Habitat has always been at the forefront of modern design. Throughout its history, the brand has been renowned for its collaborations with acclaimed artists and designers, ensuring it consistently offers unique, limited-edition collections.

Under the umbrella of the Sainsbury's Group since 2017, Habitat continues its tradition of merging contemporary aesthetics with functional design, solidifying its reputation as a leading name in home furnishings.
