Guild shelf: Danish minimalism at its best Reissued by Gubi, the Guild shelf is an ode to mid-20ᵉ century Danish design. Created in 1954 by visionaries Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen, this iconic piece embodies the essence of Scandinavian craftsmanship. Inspired by the natural curves of Hvidt's Klampenborg garden, Guild combines austere simplicity with soft, curving lines, capturing a timeless elegance. Made from solid oak or Walnut wood, each shelf is a masterpiece of precision. The slats are cut, assembled and shaped using CNC machines before being hand-sanded and coated with a water-based varnish for a silky finish. Cast and powder-coated Aluminium stands add a contemporary touch while guaranteeing exceptional sturdiness. Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen, pioneers of industrialized design, are celebrated for their ability to fuse traditional craftsmanship with innovation.
