The iconic Gräshoppa Floor Lamp was first produced in 1947 by the feminine pioneer Greta M. Grossman. The unique tripod stand of the Gräshoppa Floor Lamp is tilted backwards and gives the impression that the lamp is alive and stalking its prey. One of Grossman’s most iconic designs, the authentic lamp has an elongated conical shade that can be tilted and rotated 360° to direct light where needed.
I love this floor lamp for its quirky vintage charm and sculptural silhouette. The Gubi Grasshoppa is particularly suited to modern, eclectic, or mid-century inspired interiors where its bold red colour can act as a statement piece. Its flexible arm and adjustable head make it practical for task lighting or zoning a cosy reading corner. To style it effectively, consider pairing with neutral furnishings to let the lamp stand out, or incorporate it into a mainly red or colourful palette for a fun pop of colour. It works well in living rooms, bedrooms, or even a contemporary office, adding a touch of playful sophistication while maintaining functional elegance.
