This graphic, hand-woven cushion is part of Tiipoi's ‘JAMAKHAN’ collection of hand-woven textiles. The collection is inspired by the Bhavani ‘Jamakkalams’; colourful floor-coverings from Bhavani, a small town in Tamil Nadu, Southern India. Tiipoi's contemporary take on this original and iconic textile was created in collaboration with textile designer Sagarika Sundaram. It is hand-woven from high-grade Erode cotton yarn and hand-dyed the old-fashioned way in the neighbouring town of Karur.
This cushion strikes a great balance between colour and pattern, making it versatile for a range of interiors. I love how the grey and yellow combo adds a contemporary touch without overpowering a space, making it well-suited for modern, minimalist, or even eclectic settings. It works particularly well on neutral-toned sofas or beds where it can serve as a statement piece. Practical styling tips include pairing it with plain textiles to let the stripe design stand out, or mixing it with other cushions in solid colours for a layered, laid-back look. Its handwoven texture also adds a touch of craftsmanship, making it a thoughtful addition to both casual and more curated spaces.
