David Watson collaborates with local artists creating classic British designs. Inspired by Jane Austen’s beaded purses on display at the City Museum, Winchester, Timorous Beasties created this subversive design. Timorous Beasties was founded in Glasgow in 1990 by Alistair Mc Auley and Paul Simmons, who met while studying textile design at Glasgow School of Art.
I love this green velvet cushion for adding a pop of colour and texture to both traditional and contemporary interiors. Its rich hue pairs beautifully with neutral sofas or armchairs, while the intricate embroidery lends a touch of luxury and craftsmanship. It works especially well in eclectic or bohemian schemes, where bold patterns and textures are key. For styling tips, try layering it with other cushions in contrasting textures like linen or faux fur, or use it as a statement piece on a plain velvet or leather sofa. Practical yet decorative, this cushion is perfect for injecting personality and colour into your living space.
