An illustration of London’s classic umbrella shop, James Smith & Son. This is a three colour risograph print, in red, green and black inks. It has been risograph printed in London, on 190gsm Context Natural paper, which is a lovely recycled paper with the occasional fleck. Riso printing is an environmentally friendly printing process which uses soy-based inks and prints each colour as a separate layer. The nature - and charm - of the process means that there can be slight irregularities in the prints.
This print is a fantastic piece for adding a pop of colour and a touch of eccentric charm to a variety of interiors. I love its bold colour palette of green, black, and red, which works particularly well in minimalist or Scandinavian schemes, providing a lively contrast to neutral walls. It’s ideal mounted in a simple frame and hung in a living room or hallway to create visual interest. Practical styling tips include pairing it with antique or contemporary furniture for an eclectic look, or grouping it with other prints for a gallery-style display. Its vibrant yet understated character makes it versatile for both modern and traditional settings, adding personality without overwhelming the space.
