Designed in their own studio in Stockholm, Nordic Knots’ handwoven rugs are high quality and timeless. They’ve got a minimal aesthetic, in muted tones and geometric patterns – just like the rugs found at the centre of Scandinavian homes. The Norr Mälarstrand Rug was designed by Swedish architect Andreas Martin Löf for his living and work space in Norr Mälarstrand, Stockholm. It's inspired by the typical “Norr Mälarstrand” aesthetic, where the architecture lies on the border of classicism and modernism. And the rug's pattern is based on elements and colours from the building –a fun way to add depth to your space. Its plush pile is thanks to its hand-loomed construction in 100% New Zealand wool.
This rug is a versatile piece that works beautifully in contemporary or minimalist interiors, thanks to its bold colour-block design in green and black. I love it because it adds depth and visual interest without overwhelming a space; it’s perfect for grounding a neutral colour scheme or adding a pop of colour in more eclectic settings. For styling tips, consider pairing it with modern furniture in natural wood tones or sleek black finishes to create a cohesive look. It also works well in both living rooms and bedrooms, providing a cosy yet stylish foundation. To keep it looking its best, avoid placing it in high-traffic areas prone to spills, and consider a rug pad to prevent movement and protect your flooring.
