Description

This low bookcase from Great Little Trading Co is a great option for keeping clutter at bay in bedrooms or shared spaces. Designed to last far beyond your child's early years, it has deep shelves that accommodate bigger books and lever arch folders too. The frame is built from solid MDF with solid pine feet for extra sturdiness. At the back of the bookcase, you'll find tongue and groove detail that ensures it will fit seamlessly into any contemporary space. For your child's safety we strongly recommend you use the Anti-Tip Safety Kit provided with this product.

Our Stylist Says

I’m a fan of the little white Crompton shelf because its clean lines and compact height make it surprisingly versatile - you can slot it under a low window, use it as a playroom organiser or simply pop it in a hallway without overwhelming the space. Its panelled back gives a subtle texture that works equally well in Scandi-inspired schemes, modern farmhouse settings or children’s bedrooms. For styling, balance books with baskets or boxes on one shelf and display a couple of favourite toys or trinkets on another to avoid a cluttered look. Add a small plant or two on top alongside framed prints to introduce a bit of colour and height variation, and keep the overall feel light by rotating items seasonally.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
