Our Stylist Says

I love the minimalist design of this wall light, which makes it a versatile choice for various exteriors. Its sleek stainless steel finish pairs particularly well with contemporary or industrial-style homes, but it can also add a modern touch to traditional facades. The Up & Down light offers functional illumination-perfect for highlighting features like pathways, gardens, or architectural details, while reducing glare. For styling, consider placing it near entryways or along boundary walls for a streamlined look, and ensure its temperature matches other exterior fittings for a cohesive aesthetic. Its clean lines and durable material make it a practical yet stylish addition to any outdoor space.

About BHS.com

Founded in 1928, BHS is a renowned brand that caters to various tastes and budgets. From modern to classic designs, BHS offers quality items that effortlessly elevate your decor.

Historical Roots

British Home Stores, known as BHS, was founded by a group of U.S. entrepreneurs with the goal of replicating the same success that was seen by Woolworths.

Their first store was on the streets of Brixton and the brand quickly gained popularity for its diverse offerings.

Over time, their range of products expanded to encompass not just clothing and household items, but also furniture, electronics, entertainment, and even beauty products. By the 1960's, BHS already had 94 stores across the nation!

Expansion and Evolution

BHS has always been on the cutting edge of retail trends! In the 1970s and 1980s, when indoor shopping centres were gaining popularity, BHS quickly adapted. Their collaboration with Sainsbury's led to the creation of SavaCentre hypermarkets, which offered a combined retail experience of both general merchandise and groceries.

They didn't limit themselves to the UK either. By 1985, BHS opened its doors in Gibraltar, marking its international debut. Significant milestones like the merger with Habitat and Mothercare in 1986 further shaped its success.
