A selection of truly unique and totally individual traditional hand-knotted rugs, this range from Gooch Oriental showcases rugs created by different artisans across town and village locations across the world, including traditional Persian creations. Each piece is carefully selected by the Gooch Oriental team to ensure it's authenticity, quality and finish. Each one is knotted by hand, an intricate process using traditional hand knotting techniques. As such, no two pieces are the same, meaning you can add an authentic and unique piece of crafted design into your home, whilst supporting this heritage industry. The Sultani collection is very similar is design and style to that of the Khurjeen design. We started producing this collection in 2010 using traditional designs but with a slightly modern touch. Like Khurjeen rugs the Sultani collection is woven and made by the same Hazara tribe based in central and Northern Afghanistan in the Bamyan and Kabul provinces. We use Afghan Ghazni Wool which are hand spun using natural vegetable dyes such as Walnut, Pomegranate, Root plants and saffron. Once dyed and hand knotted onto a cotton warp base in Afghanistan the rugs are transported over to Pakistan where they are expertly finished including washing and trimming. In 1 sqm of a Sultani rug there would be around 140000 + knots. For more information on this rug, email [email protected] About your new rug We recommend. This rug is a standout piece that offers both visual interest and practicality. I love its rich, earthy tones and intricate pattern, which work well in a range of interiors from traditional to eclectic. It pairs beautifully with neutral furnishings, adding warmth and texture, but can also serve as a striking focal point against simpler decor. Practical styling tips include layering it over a neutral or solid-coloured floor for contrast or pairing with vintage furniture to highlight its timeless appeal. Keep the rest of the palette fairly muted to let the rug’s pattern shine, or introduce complementary colours in cushions or accessories for a cohesive look. Overall, it’s a versatile addition that can anchor a living space and add a touch of global elegance.
