Description

A selection of truly unique and totally individual traditional hand-knotted rugs, this range from Gooch Oriental showcases rugs created by different artisans across town and village locations across the world, including traditional Persian creations. Each piece is carefully selected by the Gooch Oriental team to ensure it's authenticity, quality and finish. Each one is knotted by hand, an intricate process using traditional hand knotting techniques. As such, no two pieces are the same, meaning you can add an authentic and unique piece of crafted design into your home, whilst supporting this heritage industry. The Shiraz rug shares many of the same features to the Quashgai design and is also made in South Western Persia. They are made by Nomadic tribes which move twice a year between different pastures. Each piece is unique with design typically quite simple and geometric including a central diamond lozenge motif. They are hand knotted freely without following a pattern and taught from generation to generation. Characteristically the colours used in this design include shades of deep red combined with dark blue and elements of green and white and usually made using 100% local wool with a mixture of both vegetable and chemical dyes. In 1sqm of Shiraz rugs there would be around 200000 + knots giving a mid-density pile. For more information on this rug, email info@goochoriental.com About your new rug We recommend. Our Stylist Says

The Gooch oriental rug is a fantastic piece for adding colour and pattern to a variety of interiors. Its rich red tone makes it ideal for warmer, traditional spaces, but it can also brighten up more neutral modern schemes when paired with simple furniture and minimal accessories. I love this rug used as a focal point in living rooms or bedrooms, especially on wooden or plain painted floors. For styling tips, consider layering with textured cushions, throws, or vintage furniture to enhance its character. It also works well in smaller spaces, like a reading nook or entryway, where it can bring the room to life without overwhelming. This piece is versatile enough to work in both classic and eclectic settings, making it a smart investment for adding warmth and visual interest.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
