A selection of truly unique and totally individual traditional hand-knotted rugs, this range from Gooch Oriental showcases rugs created by different artisans across town and village locations across the world, including traditional Persian creations. Each piece is carefully selected by the Gooch Oriental team to ensure its authenticity, quality and finish. Each one is knotted by hand, an intricate process using traditional hand knotting techniques. As such, no two pieces are the same, meaning you can add an authentic and unique piece of crafted design into your home, whilst supporting this heritage industry. The Pictorial collection is very similar is design and style to that of the Khurjeen design. We started producing this collection in 2010 using traditional designs but with a slightly modern touch. Like Khurjeen rugs the Pictorial collection is woven and made by the same Hazara tribe based in central and Northern Afghanistan in the Bamyan and Kabul provinces. We use Afghan Ghazni Wool which are hand spun using natural vegetable dyes such as Walnut, Pomegranate, Root plants and saffron. Once dyed and hand knotted onto a cotton warp base in Afghanistan the rugs are transported over to Pakistan where they are expertly finished including washing and trimming. Knot Count: In 1 sqm of a Pictorial rug there would be around 140000 + knots. About your new rug We recommend John Lewis & Partners Rug Hold Underlay. The Gooch Oriental rug in grey is a versatile piece that works well in both contemporary and traditional interiors, adding a touch of vintage charm with its detailed pattern. I love how its neutral palette makes it easy to pair with various colour schemes, from sleek modern schemes to eclectic boho styles. It’s particularly effective layered over hardwood or concrete floors, anchoring a living space while adding warmth and texture. For practical styling, consider keeping furniture low and streamlined to showcase the rug’s full pattern, and complement it with soft textiles and minimalist accessories to highlight its understated elegance. This rug is a great option for adding a stylish statement without overwhelming the room.
