A selection of truly unique and totally individual traditional hand-knotted rugs, this range from Gooch Oriental showcases rugs created by different artisans across town and village locations across the world, including traditional Persian creations. Each piece is carefully selected by the Gooch Oriental team to ensure it's authenticity, quality and finish. Each one is knotted by hand, an intricate process using traditional hand knotting techniques. As such, no two pieces are the same, meaning you can add an authentic and unique piece of crafted design into your home, whilst supporting this heritage industry. Hamadan is a province in the west of Iran with a capital city of the same name. The rugs are handmade using home looms within local communities. You may find pieces that have similar intricate styling, but none will be identical. In the past only vegetable dyes were used, but now chemical dyes are also used for the wool. With 200000+ knots to the square metre, Hamadan rugs have a mid-density pile. I love this rug for its rich, warm tones and classic oriental design, which makes it a versatile piece in both traditional and eclectic interiors. It works particularly well layered over neutral or lighter flooring to add depth and colour, or as a statement piece in a more pared-back space. Styling tips include pairing it with natural textiles like linen or wool, and balancing its bold pattern with simple furniture to let the rug truly shine. In smaller spaces, it’s perfect for creating a cosy nook, while in larger rooms, it anchors seating areas effectively. Its size and hue make it an excellent choice for adding warmth and character to living rooms, dining spaces, or even a study.
