Description

A selection of truly unique and totally individual traditional hand-knotted rugs, this range from Gooch Oriental showcases rugs created by different artisans across town and village locations across the world, including traditional Persian creations. Each piece is carefully selected by the Gooch Oriental team to ensure it's authenticity, quality and finish. Each one is knotted by hand, an intricate process using traditional hand knotting techniques. As such, no two pieces are the same, meaning you can add an authentic and unique piece of crafted design into your home, whilst supporting this heritage industry. Hamadan is a province in the west of Iran with a capital city of the same name. The rugs are handmade using home looms within local communities. You may find pieces that have similar intricate styling, but none will be identical. In the past only vegetable dyes were used, but now chemical dyes are also used for the wool. With 200000+ knots to the square metre, Hamadan rugs have a mid-density pile. About your new rug We recommend. Our Stylist Says

The Gooch Oriental Hamadan Rug is a fantastic addition for adding warmth and colour to a variety of interiors. I love how its rich red tones and traditional pattern can anchor a neutral space, making it perfect for both classic and contemporary settings. It works especially well under a dining table or in a living room where it can serve as a statement piece. Practical styling tips include pairing it with wooden or leather furniture to highlight its warm hues, and layering it with smaller, textured cushions or throws to create a cosy, inviting atmosphere. It’s robust and versatile, making it a great choice for high-traffic areas or homes with children or pets.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
