Price History

Description

Woven from a wool-rich silk blend for the ideal mix of strength and softness, this vibrant rug from Gooch Luxury features an abstract stripe throughout in a colourful, ombre style. The 80 knot quality of this rug is woven using OOAK silk which is soft and extremely light and Dhingri wool by specialist artisan Himalayan weavers based in the foothills of Kathmandu Valley. Each rug is individually carefully hand knotted using a traditional Tibetan Senneh knot technique with 20% Silk yarn, 80% Wool yarn on a natural cotton foundation. The OOAK silk and Dhingri wool are dyed into required shades creating natural abrash reflecting multiple shades in a single colour. In 1sqm of rugs there would be around 80,000 + knots giving a fine-density pile. This rug has been knotted by hand, the oldest and most individual way a rug can be made. This involves an intricate process of weaving by hand on a loom where yarns are tied one at a time, giving the rug a durable construction. About your new rug We recommend. It prevents your rug from moving underfoot and protects against colour transfer to the floor Natural fibres may shed. This will reduce over time, and shouldn't affect your rug's lifespan or performance When vacuuming your rug, use suction only. Rotating brushes may damage the fibres Blot any spills with a clean, dry cloth. Do not rub or use harsh detergents. Textile backed

Our Stylist Says

This rug's ombre stripe design makes it a versatile choice that can add depth and visual interest to both modern and eclectic interiors. I love how the wool and silk blend offers a luxurious texture with a subtle sheen that elevates any space. It works particularly well in living rooms or bedrooms where you want a statement piece that still feels cosy. For styling, consider pairing it with neutral furnishings to let the colours stand out, or bring out one of the hues for a cohesive look. Practical tip: position under a coffee table or in a seating area to naturally define the space and highlight the rug as a focal point.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
