Semi plain in design, the Gabbeh rug is as versatile as it is luxurious. Hand woven by Turkoman tribes in the province of Aqchae of Northern Afghanistan and made using 100% hand-spun wool on a cotton warp. This rug is then taken to a region in Pakistan where final bespoke touches are added to ensure the rug is finished to the highest standard. This rug's unique semi-plain pattern is created using 100% natural undyed wool meaning the colours can vary from light to dark naturally making each rug truly unique. In 1sqm of Gabbeh rugs there are around 150000+ knots giving it a mid-density pile. About your new rug We recommend John Lewis & Partners Rug Hold Underlay. This hand-knotted gabbeh rug is a versatile piece that works particularly well in both contemporary and relaxed, rustic interiors. I love its natural, earthy tone as it offers a neutral backdrop that can anchor a room without overwhelming it. It’s ideal for living spaces, bedrooms, or even open-plan areas where a tactile, warm layer is needed. For styling, consider pairing it with light wood furniture and neutral textiles to emphasise its subtle warmth, or add some colour through accessories to create a layered, curated look. It’s practical too - a robust rug that can withstand daily wear but still adds a touch of craftsmanship and texture to any space.
