Description

Tradition is at the heart of this pure wool rug from Gooch Luxury. Ersari is one of the most important Turkoman tribes, it's people are considered among the best weavers of the 24 clans with the most specialist and smallest clans being Ersari and Tekke. Originally nomadic, these proud people are mostly settled in Northern Afghanistan in the area bordered by Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. They weave fine rugs using traditional designs. These rugs are made using 100% hand-spun wool on cotton warp which has been dyed using traditional natural vegetable dyes. The rugs are then taken to a region in Pakistan where final bespoke touches are added to ensure the rug is finished to the highest standard. In 1sqm of Ersari rugs there would be around 150000+ knots which allows for a fine density and lower pile to best showcase the pattern. Worth Knowing: The exact design layout will differ depending on the size of rug you choose. About your new rug We recommend. It prevents your rug from moving underfoot and protects against colour transfer to the floor Natural fibres may shed. This will reduce over time, and shouldn’t affect your rug’s lifespan or performance When vacuuming your rug, use suction only. Rotating brushes may damage the fibres Blot any spills with a clean, dry cloth. Do not rub or use harsh detergents. Textile backed

Our Stylist Says

This Ersari runner is a fantastic addition for adding colour and texture to longer, narrower spaces like hallways or between kitchen units. I love its vibrant red hue paired with traditional patterns - it injects a warm, authentic feel without overwhelming the space. It works particularly well in bohemian, eclectic, or traditional interiors, but can also provide a striking contrast in more minimal designs. Practical styling tips include layering it over neutral flooring or using it to highlight a specific corridor or passage. To keep it in top condition, consider placing a non-slip underlay and avoiding high-moisture areas to preserve its intricate hand-knotted quality. Overall, a stylish yet functional piece that can elevate the look of everyday pathways.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
