Description

Formalised 'elephant's foot' design rug in rich, earthy hues. The feel of the wool is soft and velvety, with a very dense, hand-knotted pile. Hard-wearing and excellent value for money. Hand knotted in an area of the Punjab famed for this design, the Bokhara Rug is made using 100% locally sourced wool. Each piece truly unique, the weaving time of the Bokhara Rug is dependent on its size, the weather conditions and the cultivation of crops which impacts the wool used in its production. This means each rug can take anywhere between 4 to 10 weeks to produce. With a pile of approximately 1.2cm, the Bokhara has a gorgeously soft and silky appearance. Its high-density pile means that in just one square metre of Bokhara rugs, there would be around 186000+ knots making it very durable. This rug has been knotted by hand, the oldest and most individual way a rug can be made. This involves an intricate process of weaving by hand on a loom where yarns are tied one at a time, giving the rug a durable construction. Our Stylist Says

The Gooch Luxury Bokhara Rug in neutral tones is a versatile piece that works well in both traditional and contemporary interiors. I love its subtle pattern and calming ivory and grey palette, which can soften a modern space or add a touch of sophistication to a more classic setting. It’s ideal for placement under a dining table, in a hallway, or in an open-plan living area, where its elongated shape can help define zones. To style it effectively, pair with minimalist furniture and neutral textiles to make the rug stand out while maintaining a balanced look. For a more eclectic vibe, complement it with textured throws and cushions in muted colours - this rug’s understated elegance makes it adaptable to a variety of interior schemes.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
