Golden Bough II An enchanting depiction of the Willow Tree, this delicate scenic print designed in 1925, has strong links to both Greek, Celtic and Roman mythology. Greek & Celtic traditions cherished it for its close association with water, the moon, and the Goddess Hecate. The Willow Tree was believed to enhance psychic abilities and to offer deep insights, while its strength and flexibility were seen as a metaphor for the path of the spiritual. In Roman mythology, it was the Golden Bough, a tree branch with golden leaves, that enabled the Trojan hero, Aeneas to travel through the underworld safely. This archive print has been lovingly restored and reproduced using digital printing and ethically sourced materials.
I really like this print for its subtle colour palette and calming aesthetic - it works well in both contemporary and traditional interiors. The landscape-inspired imagery of the waterfall adds a nature-inspired touch, making it ideal for spaces where you want to create a relaxing environment, such as living rooms or bedrooms. To style it effectively, consider pairing it with minimalist furniture and neutral tones to let the artwork stand out, or complement with muted textiles and accessories in similar colours for a cohesive look. Hanging it at eye level in a well-lit spot will really allow the detail and artistry to shine.
