Description

Designed by Greta Grossman in 1951, the GMG Chaise Longue is brought to life by Copenhagen-based manufacturer GUBI. Perfectly angled for lounging, the streamlined chair mirrors the body's natural curves for the ultimate relaxation. Appearing to almost float atop its slender legs, the form is a typical representation of Grossman's design aesthetic, balancing a delicate frame with powerful lines, combining her love of Scandinavian colours and textures with a reference to Californian modernism. An icon of mid-century design, Greta M. Grossman fell into obscurity after her retirement in the late 1960s. Thanks to GUBI re-issuing a series of Grossman's most celebrated and accomplished designs, she has rightfully reclaimed her place in the design hall of fame.

Our Stylist Says

I love this chaise for its understated elegance and versatility; the ivory shade makes it a neutral, sophisticated addition that can complement a variety of interior styles. It works particularly well in modern, minimalist spaces due to its sleek lines, but can also soften a more eclectic or Scandinavian aesthetic. Practical styling tips include pairing it with textured cushions or throws to add comfort and visual interest, and placing it near a window or within a reading nook to maximise its use as a relaxation spot. The slender black legs give it a contemporary edge, ensuring it remains stylish yet unobtrusive in a variety of settings.
