Domestic jewel. An alliance of opposites, Gioia unites past and present, humble and precious. Evoking a pendant, the Gioia wall lamp is a real jewel designed to decorate domestic space. Its designer, Andrea Anastasio, explains: "I’ve always imagined the house as a protective and mysterious deity. Gioia is a kind of tribute, an ornament offered to the ‘domus’, the home. "The magic of this light lies in the colourful combination of styles, materials, shapes and colours. Gioia consists of a large coloured plexiglass disc in the middle of which hangs a precious piece of marble hiding the light source. The two elements are linked by a thin metal ring that evokes the world of the goldsmith. The transparency and modernity of the plastic disc contrast with the opacity, noble character and organic lines of the marble element. The disc is fixed to the wall by a small metal pin. The two parts are free to move, recalling the oscillating rhythm of a pendant or earring. Italian designer Andrea Anastasio brings past and present together to create a new poetic item, rich in references as eclectic as they are erudite. A meeting between a past full of statues, friezes and great works of architecture, and a present made of synthetic materials and inventions. The technical part of the lamp is completely independent of the decorative disc, which gives the decorative element complete freedom of movement. The LED light source is in fact located in a diffuser box that attaches to the wall at the back of the disc. Designer and philosopher Andrea Anastasio explores ancient cultures, the boundaries of art and contemporary design. Fascinated by the study of the poetics of conceptual art and its possible convergences with industrial design, he draws objects that generate contaminations of languages and meanings.
