Description

At the core of the Fawn range is the combination of beautiful natural materials and modern craftsmanship, as demonstrated by the slender oak frame inspired by the delicate profile of a baby deer. Winner of a Red Dot Design award 2015, these gentle lines have a light and airy feel with the sumptuous curved detailing along each corner set against a chequerboard woven headboard. Sculpted from oak and finished in natural oil, the supple curves of the bed are exquisitely executed providing a dainty looking frame that is extremely robust and hardwearing. Not an angle in sight, the smooth lines and elegant cutaway panels of the splayed back legs demonstrate seamless joinery. Providing a comfortable nights rest, two rows of sprung slats are closely spaced to ensure plentiful support for a range of mattresses. Contrasting the light, slender feel of the oak is a geometric patterned headboard woven around the tall poles of the frames back from durable yet flexible fabric strips.

Our Stylist Says

I’m really taken with the sleek profile and natural oak of the Fawn bed - it feels both light and sculptural. Its black webbing headboard adds a subtle textural contrast without overpowering the frame. You can drop it straight into Scandi or Japandi schemes by keeping linens in muted tones and adding a wool throw for warmth, or lean towards mid-century style with a pair of sputnik-style bedside lamps and a geometric rug. Practical point: the slatted base ensures good mattress ventilation, so you get comfort without bulk. Finish with a couple of low-profile cushions in natural fabrics to complete the look.

About Heal's

Explore from Heal's. Founded in 1810, Heal's are an iconic brand with a history of innovation, and are synonymous with timeless elegance and exceptional design.

A Rich Legacy in Furniture Design

Heal's is a well-known British furniture store with a history that spans over 200 years. It began in 1810 when John Harris Heal and his son started a business for feather products but soon moved into furniture.

By the 1900s, almost everyone in London knew Heal's for its great furniture. Interestingly, they were also among the first to sell electric lights in Britain. During World War II, their main store even helped by making parachutes for soldiers.

Influences and Design Philosophy

A significant part of Heal's story is Sir Ambrose Heal, who worked there for 60 years, from 1893 to 1953. He had a unique idea combine the beautiful designs from the Arts and Crafts Movement with affordable manufacturing.

This meant more people could buy well-designed furniture without breaking the bank. If you visit the Heal's store on Tottenham Court Road in London, you'll see a cool spiral staircase and a statue of a bronze cat, both of which show off the company's unique style.

Modern Expansion and Growth

While Heal's has a long history, they're always looking forward. In 2001, a company named Wittington Investments bought Heal's, helping it to grow and open stores in many cities, including Manchester and Leeds.

They've also started selling products online, aiming to be a modern e-commerce store with physical showrooms. Their main Tottenham Court Road store celebrated 200 years in 2018. Recently, they revamped it, making it even better for shoppers.
