Designed in 1960 by brothers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, the Gatto Table Lamp brings a warm glow to any environment. To create the organically shaped light, the internal steel structure is coated in a white powder and sprayed with a unique resin, forming the cocoon texture of the diffuser. To finish, the light is protected with a transparent spray. Also available in the smaller Piccolo model, the Gatto Table Light features an electronic dimmer that allows the brightness to be tailored to the atmosphere. Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni were avid users of new inventive techniques and materials to create their designs, as is the case with the resin-coated Gatto Table Light. Requires 1 x Max 60W E27 bulb (not included).
I love this lamp because of its sculptural, almost architectural form that adds a modern yet soft touch to any space. Its sculptural shape works particularly well in minimalist or contemporary interiors, but it can also bring a playful element to a more eclectic scheme. The Gatto is versatile because it can sit on a side table, a console, or even used as a statement piece on a shelf. For styling tips, pair it with neutral tones or place it next to textured fabrics to emphasise its clean lines. It’s also a great lamp to complement natural materials like wood or stone, adding visual interest without overwhelming the space.
