Description

From G Plan Vintage, The Sixty Five is created by amalgamating shapes. Sitting on splayed feet the body has a boxy look with clear, straight lines, whilst the cylindrical bolster cushions at the arms soften the overall feel. In collaboration with Hemingway Design we've created G Plan Vintage, a stunning range of furniture inspired by classic G Plan sofas and chairs from the 50s and 60s. Named after the year of the original model that influenced the current designs, they blend timeless details with a contemporary approach. It's a collection that embraces the quality and craftsmanship of G Plan, as well as Hemingway's fresh and vibrant approach to vintage projects.

Our Stylist Says

I love this vintage-inspired two-seater leather sofa for its timeless appeal and compact size, making it ideal for both contemporary and more eclectic interiors. Its sleek lines and leather finish lend a sophisticated feel, while the small scale suits cosy living spaces or to create a chic accent. It works particularly well paired with mid-century modern pieces, minimalist decor, or even eclectic mixes. Practical styling tips include layering with textured cushions for comfort, adding a throw for a relaxed vibe, and placing it against a muted wall to let the leather's natural patina shine. This sofa looks great with wooden flooring or in a space with retro or vintage accessories to really emphasise its nostalgic charm.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
