The iconic Fontana lamp was designed in 1954 by Max Ingrand, a big name in the Art Deco movement. It was in this same year that the famous French designer became artistic director of FontanaArte. For nearly a decade, he created lamps that went on to become design classics and historical FontanaArte creations. The Fontana lamp is of course a great example. Here, the Fontana table lamp has made a comeback in an LED version. Sharing the same archetypal silhouette of the traditional table lamp, Fontana is made entirely of blown glass (only the base beneath its body is in painted metal). The Fontana lamp has a unique multi-lighting feature: the base and lampshade contain several light sources and can be turned on independently. Because it offers two different types of light, the lamp is capable of meeting a variety of lighting needs: from an intimate light for resting to a brighter light for reading, including a variety of other emotional, ambient, diffuse and warm forms of light. Its fluid lines, ideal dimensions and milky-opalescent finish make the Fontana lamp a timeless designer item that will fit in perfectly whatever your decorative style.
I love this lamp for its sleek, minimalist design that adds a touch of modern elegance to any space. Its clean white finish and rounded form make it highly versatile, working well in contemporary interiors or as a chic accent in more traditional settings. It’s perfect on a side table, console, or bedside table, where its understated style complements rather than competes with other decor. Practical styling tips include pairing it with soft textiles and natural materials for a balanced look, and using warm LED bulbs to create a cosy, inviting atmosphere. The tall height makes it a statement piece that can also help to subtly elevate an overall room design.
