Price History

Description

Created for Flos by Jasper Morrison, this ceiling fitting is made from sturdy metal with an attached diffuser to soften the glow. It offers a direct wash of light which makes it well-suited for installation directly above dining tables. Inspired by the industrial nature of the fixtures he saw at Smithfield Market in London, Morrison said, "I've always liked the industrial and functional character of these lights. I wanted to make a project out of them, looking for some way of making use of their efficiency in delivering light, and the forms themselves which are so much a part of the good atmosphere of industrial spaces.

Our Stylist Says

I love the Smithfield pendant for its sleek, contemporary design that works well in both minimalist and modern interiors. Its clean lines and understated shape make it versatile enough to hang over dining tables, kitchen islands, or in living areas that call for a subtle but stylish lighting feature. It pairs particularly well with neutral palettes and can be dressed up with colourful accessories or kept understated for a more pared-back look. Practical styling tip: hang it at different heights to create visual interest or layer it with other light sources for a warm, inviting glow. Its simple elegance makes it a reliable choice for bringing a clean, polished touch to your space.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
