Designed by Tobia Scarpa in 1963 and reissued in 2025, Seki-Han is a testament to his mastery of design and wood-working expertise. The intricate construction draws on naval techniques to shape two wooden blades that rotate around the light source, leaving a slender sliver of light visible at all times for a highly poetic effect. The re-edition also introduces this elegant suspension model, identical in design but with a slightly shorter body. In both versions, Seki-Han is a living presence where the immateriality of light meets the tactility of wood.
I love the Flos Seki-Han pendant because of its sleek, minimalist design and warm, natural wood finish, which brings a touch of understated elegance to any space. It works particularly well in contemporary or Scandi-inspired interiors, adding a subtle yet striking focal point without overwhelming the room. For practical styling tips, hang it over dining tables, kitchen islands, or even in a bedroom to create a cosy, inviting atmosphere. Pairing it with simple, neutral surroundings will allow the pendant’s craftsmanship and natural material to shine, making it a versatile choice for both modern and more classic interiors.
