Our Stylist Says

The Florence Flump table lamp in blue is a playful yet sophisticated choice, perfect for adding colour and character to a room. Its chunky, ribbed base makes it a striking focal point on side tables or console units, working particularly well in eclectic, contemporary, or coastal-inspired interiors. When styling, consider pairing it with neutral or textured shades to let the colour pop, and place it alongside other tactile objects like woven baskets or linen cushions. For practicality, its sizeable shade provides a soft, ambient glow, ideal for creating cosy corners or layered lighting schemes in living rooms and bedrooms. It’s a versatile piece that brings a touch of personality while remaining functional.

About BHS.com

Founded in 1928, BHS is a renowned brand that caters to various tastes and budgets. From modern to classic designs, BHS offers quality items that effortlessly elevate your decor.

Historical Roots

British Home Stores, known as BHS, was founded by a group of U.S. entrepreneurs with the goal of replicating the same success that was seen by Woolworths.

Their first store was on the streets of Brixton and the brand quickly gained popularity for its diverse offerings.

Over time, their range of products expanded to encompass not just clothing and household items, but also furniture, electronics, entertainment, and even beauty products. By the 1960's, BHS already had 94 stores across the nation!

Expansion and Evolution

BHS has always been on the cutting edge of retail trends! In the 1970s and 1980s, when indoor shopping centres were gaining popularity, BHS quickly adapted. Their collaboration with Sainsbury's led to the creation of SavaCentre hypermarkets, which offered a combined retail experience of both general merchandise and groceries.

They didn't limit themselves to the UK either. By 1985, BHS opened its doors in Gibraltar, marking its international debut. Significant milestones like the merger with Habitat and Mothercare in 1986 further shaped its success.
