"Floral grace. The Flora collection was born from Nani Marquina’s (creator of the eponymous brand) admiration for the work of Barcelona artist Santi Moix. Based in New York and with numerous international exhibitions to her name, this multifaceted contemporary artist devotes herself to drawing, engraving and mainly to painting, where her space for reflection resides. For this striking collaboration, Santi Moix explores the life cycle of flowers with remarkable sensitivity and liveliness, masterfully recreated on hand-tufted woollen rugs. Moix uses flower imagery to explore the fragility of life and death. "Flowers have a great capacity to unite people", comments Moix. "They have a beginning and an end. I like to represent them in all their phases, from the initial explosion to the final fragility, because every moment, as in life, presents beauty and importance. " Moix perfectly transcribes the richness of their colours, shapes and textures thanks to contrasting compositions that stimulate the senses. Nani Marquina explains: "The use of colour by Santi Moix goes beyond simple decoration: it improves and accentuates certain details by paying particular attention to the in-betweens - these intermediate processes in the life of a flower such as the moments before their flowering, their explosion of colour and decomposition. " The Flora rug collection includes three models: Promenade, which is full of brightly coloured flowers, and Backyard, which represents wild flowers commonly found in the garden of a home. The last model, Bloom, comes in two versions that capture different moments in the life of a flower: : wilting and flowering. Each Flora rug is made using a high-quality hand-tufted technique which allows great precision in the patterns to faithfully reproduce the original designs by Santi Moix.
