Flamingo Mini breaks down light... By moving the Lampshade away from the light source, designer Antoni Arola deconstructs the elements that traditionally make up a Pendant. The challenge: to project light onto the Lampshade rather than using it to envelop the light source. The result is radically new sculptural and lighting effects. Flamingo Mini allows different types of lighting to be achieved, combining direct, functional light with ambient, indirect and diffused light. Flamingo Mini consists of 2 superimposed discs of translucent white PMMA encircling steel rods. The cylindrical diffuser, located at the end of the rods beneath the discs, contains 2 LED sources and provides both direct and indirect lighting (light directed downwards and upwards). Light directed towards the ceiling is filtered by the Lampshades, which act as Reflectors, guaranteeing diffused, soft, glare-free light. The filtered light envelops the silhouette of the Lamp in a soft, decorative halo of light. The advantage of the Reflector lighting system is not only the softness of the light emitted, but also the magical, mysterious and even intriguing aspect it evokes in the viewer. This contributes greatly to the lamp's poetry and elegance. Much smaller than Flamingo, its large-format counterpart, Flamingo Mini creates a new spatial dynamic, as it adapts to complex architectural environments and suggests a nuanced emotional response.
