I’m a fan of this stool’s straightforward lines and muted brown upholstery, which slot neatly into both contemporary kitchens and more rustic, industrial-style spaces. The adjustable gas-lift height and circular footrest make it practical for daily use, while the slim metal base keeps the look light and unobtrusive.
For styling, pair it with a dark oak or concrete-topped island to emphasise its warm tone, and introduce soft-textured accents - a small linen cushion or a folded wool throw - so it feels inviting rather than purely functional. In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth. By 1989, this entrepreneurial spirit led to the opening of the very first physical store on Billacombe Road, originally named "C.D.S. Superstores". However, in the early '90s, a rebranding took place, introducing "The Range" to the world.
Today, with a whopping 200+ stores across the UK, The Range boasts an impressive selection of over 65,000 products, spreading across 16 diverse departments, all dedicated to enhancing homes and lifestyles.
Chris Dawson, the brain behind The Range, held the CEO position from 1989 to 2017. With a flair for business, Chris's achievements haven't gone unnoticed. He was even ranked fifth in a survey of Britain's Top 100 Entrepreneurs.
