I’m a fan of this Fair Isle cotton duvet set for its understated pattern and natural colour palette - it brings just the right amount of texture without overwhelming a room. It works particularly well in Scandi-inspired or country-style bedrooms, where neutral tones and simple lines dominate. For a pulled-together look, layer it over a crisp white fitted sheet, add a chunky knit throw at the foot and mix in a couple of plain linen cushions in muted greys or soft taupes. The breathable cotton makes it easy to care for (just toss it in the machine), and the subtle reindeer and snowflake motifs give you a cosy, all-year-round appeal.

In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth.
