Description

Featuring sumptuous warming tones with a woven distressed finish, this fading world rug has a homely appeal with classic styling. Hand-woven by expert craftsmen, centuries of skill went into creating its intricate stitching detail which provides this rug with a gorgeous vintage feel. This fashionable flat weave construction makes this rug suited to both traditional and contemporary homes with its reinforced corners and anti-slip backing providing a practical finish, ideal for high traffic living areas

Our Stylist Says

I love this one for its versatility and understated charm. The fading effect gives it a slightly vintage feel, making it ideal for both traditional and contemporary interiors. It works particularly well in living rooms or bedrooms with neutral or earthy palettes, adding warmth without overpowering the space. For practical styling, consider layering it over a larger plain rug or pairing it with natural materials like wood and linen to enhance its cosy appeal. Its size makes it a solid choice for creating a defined area in open-plan spaces or anchoring a seating arrangement, and it’s resilient enough to handle everyday wear while adding a touch of understated sophistication.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
