Description

Minimalist and versatile, this extra-small Kijani Planter and Storage Basket was designed by The Basket Room and handcrafted in Kenya. Woven from doum palm leaves, this intricate basket is produced by the Ngurunit Weavers Group, a collective of 150 craftswomen utilising the age-old Rendille weaving tradition. The shape is finished with the addition of Samburu-inspired beading in green and white. Spurred on by their love of basket weaving, Holly Dutton and Camilla Sutton founded The Basket Room. By supporting local communities in Rwanda, Ghana, Kenya and Swaziland, the workers benefit from fair wages, dignified working conditions and flexible working hours. Please note: Due to the handcrafted nature of these baskets, no two are the same.

Our Stylist Says

I love this little Kijani basket for its versatile, handcrafted appeal. It works well in both boho and Scandi interiors, adding a touch of warmth and texture to shelves, side tables, or window sills. Its compact size makes it perfect for holding small plants, like succulents or cacti, as well as various bits and bobs such as keys or stationery. Practical styling tip: use it to organise clutter in living spaces or bathrooms, ensuring that it looks stylish while still functional. The neutral tones and natural material make it easy to pair with other woven or wooden accessories, creating a cosy, cohesive look.
