In the Essentials collection of lights from the designer, Koen Van Guijze, you can clearly see his penchant for Brutalism and minimalism, with an ounce of conceptualism. As its name indicates, the collection from the Antwerp designer essentially goes back to basics. The monolithic plans, the paired-down geometric outlines, the raw materials and the elements in all their simplicity evoke the industrial revolution with a quirky tone. The materials come to life and shape out-of-the-ordinary lamps. The Essentials lamps are a combination of brutalism and sophisticated details. The Essentials no. 18 pendant consists of two bulbs balanced on the end of a curved metal tube. A sculptural, sophisticated light construction that explores the notion of balance.
