This distinctive Windsor dining chair, made in the UK from solid ash, combines strength and durability with classic elegance. The six ash spindles and curved seatback, alongside the sculpted saddle seat provide a comfortable and supportive sit. The chair bow is steam bent from a single straight ash rail. Traditional wedge joints, where the legs come through the seat and a wedge is then inserted into a cut, before the leg stump is hand sanded flush with the seat, to create a lovely design detail and a very strong joint. This chair furniture can be finished in your choice of wood and paint finishes that protects the timber, whilst enabling you to choose the look to match your style and decor. For added comfort is the Windsor dining chair with an upholstered seat, fabrics can be chosen from the ercol collection. Shown here with C748 fabric and a dark (DK) wood finish. I’m a big fan of the Windsor dining chair for its neat blend of classic spindle-back lines and a cushioned seat - it slots effortlessly into Scandi-inspired kitchens, minimalist dining rooms or a cottage-style nook. The warm wood finish complements oak or light-timber tables, while the Grade C upholstery adds just the right pop of colour without overpowering a neutral palette. For styling, try pairing two upholstered Windsors at the ends of your table with plain wooden versions along the sides to introduce subtle variation. Tie in the upholstery shade with a woven rug or simple cushion, and drape a neutral sheepskin over one chair to soften the overall look.
