Description

Design. This stylish oak dining table features a beautiful curved edge detail to the long sides of the table top which combines with the curves and chamfers of the legs to give an organic feel to the piece. The table features a reciprocating mechanism pull on one end to extend and the other end opens at the same time. The extension leaf is stored within the table as a butterfly mechanism it is simply flipped open into place. This dining table seats eight when closed and ten when extended.

Our Stylist Says

I love this piece because it combines timeless appeal with practicality. The Ercol Romana is a versatile choice that complements both modern and traditional interiors thanks to its warm brown oak finish. It’s ideal for creating a welcoming dining space, especially in open-plan or Scandinavian-influenced schemes where light and natural textures are key. For styling, consider pairing it with upholstered chairs in neutral tones or adding a colourful runner and simple place settings to keep the look sleek. When styling the top, avoid clutter to highlight the natural grain, and use the extendable feature for hosting larger gatherings-great for both everyday family meals and dinner parties alike.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
