When Ercol founder Lucian Ercolani set out to produce a contemporary range of traditional handmade furniture, he looked to the heritage of craft within the Chiltern Hills and areas surrounding his first factory. The result was a mid-century styled collection inspired by classic Windsor furniture, with pieces such as this Ercol Nest of Tables now lovingly reproduced.

I love how the Ercol nest tables combine graceful, turned legs with a pared-back tabletop - they work brilliantly in mid-century, Scandi or contemporary schemes. Their compact design means you can tuck them away when you don’t need extra surface space, then pull out the smaller tables as occasional plant stands, side tables by an armchair or impromptu drink holders. To style, position the largest table next to a sofa or bed with a simple lamp and a couple of design books, then spread the smaller ones around the room with a sculptural vase or a small plant to pick up on any metallic or natural-fibre accents you already have.

Heal's is a well-known British furniture store with a history that spans over 200 years. It began in 1810 when John Harris Heal and his son started a business for feather products but soon moved into furniture.
