Description

Designed by Gam. Fratesi, The Epic Coffee Table is a sculptural form inspired by Greek columns and Roman architecture, brought to life by Copenhagen-based manufacturer GUBI. Named for the epic poems of ancient times, the table displays the natural beauty of travertine stone, highlighting its veins and texture. Combining two simple geometric shapes, the monolithic form references classical columns. As noted by Danish-Italian design duo Gam. Fratesi, Without material there is no soul. Positioning the material at the centre of the project is an intellectual act and celebrating unusual stones and natural finishes is aligned with our practice and GUBI's cerebral and contemporary take on the traditional.

Our Stylist Says

I love this coffee table because of its rich burnt red hue, which adds warmth and character to a variety of interiors. Its clean, rounded silhouette makes it versatile for both modern and transitional spaces, especially in open-plan living areas where a bold statement piece is needed without overwhelming the room. For styling, consider pairing it with neutral-toned sofas to allow the colour to pop, or layer with textured accessories like books and ceramics for an inviting, lived-in feel. Its sizeable 110cm diameter makes it practical for casual gatherings, while the sturdy base provides stability and visual interest. Overall, this piece works well in both contemporary and eclectic settings, acting as a functional focal point.
