Description

The Finch Chenille Pillow Back Left Hand Large Chaise Sofa is a striking statement piece that blends traditional design with contemporary flair. Featuring hand-drawn floral patterns and Finch bird illustrations inspired by Charles Darwin's Galapagos expedition, it adds a unique touch to your space. The sofa boasts deep comfort seating, traditional scroll arms, and a cosy pillow back design. Upholstered in distressed chenille fabric with a velvety finish and tonal variation, it rests on vintage oak feet with optional castors for added sophistication.

Our Stylist Says

I love this sofa for its versatile and timeless appeal, especially in neutral fabrics that make it easy to dress up or down. It works particularly well in classic or transitional interiors, adding a touch of elegance without overpowering the space. For styling, consider layering with textured cushions-think linen, velvet, or tasseled ones-to create visual interest and comfort. Practical tips include placing a cosy throw over the arm for a lived-in feel and positioning it in a living room with plenty of natural light to highlight its neutral tone. Its substantial size and corner form make it perfect for family rooms or open-plan spaces, where it can anchor the seating area while remaining inviting.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
