Description

The Clover Footstool in Petal Pattern is a charming blend of comfort, craftsmanship and countryside inspiration. Its delicate design takes its cue from the conservation work helping to restore England's precious wildflower meadows, one of the UK's rarest habitats, with 97% lost since the Second World War. Inspired by the meadows carefully protected at English Heritage sites, the pretty petal motif celebrates their beauty and biodiversity. Wonderfully comfortable and perfectly proportioned, it suits both classic and contemporary living spaces. Vintage Oak turned wood legs complete the look, adding warmth and a timeless finishing touch.

Our Stylist Says

I love the English Heritage Clover footstool fabric for its classic yet versatile aesthetic, making it a great addition to both traditional and contemporary interiors. Its rich colour and timeless shape add warmth and character, while the fabric’s durability ensures it holds up well in busy living spaces. It works particularly well in cosy lounges, as a complement to velvet or floral upholstered sofas, or in a neutral scheme to add a pop of colour. Practical styling tips include pairing it with layered textiles like throws and cushions to create a relaxed vibe, or placing it at the foot of a bed to serve as a multifunctional piece for resting your feet or extra seating. Its understated elegance makes it a flexible choice that can adapt to changing décor details over time.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
