Description

Expertly aged to give the appeal of well-loved heirloom style, our hand-knotted Empress rug in rich pink hues will be a beautiful focal point for your sitting room or bedroom. A team of skilled weavers in North India hand knot each rug, practising an inherited process resulting in an intentionally distressed, vintage appearance.

Our Stylist Says

I love this rug’s rich, vintage appeal - it adds character and warmth to a variety of interiors. Its hand-knotted craftsmanship makes it a durable choice, perfect for living rooms or bedrooms where style needs to be both practical and eye-catching. The vibrant pink tone can inject a pop of colour into neutral spaces, but it also pairs well with more muted palettes for a layered, eclectic look. Styling tips include layering it over a larger, textured rug to anchor a seating area or letting it serve as the statement piece in a minimalist space. Remember to keep furniture legs off the rug to showcase its intricate design and maintain its visual impact.

About Graham & Green

Founded in 1974, Graham & Green are a family business that started in Notting Hill, and have many pieces that bring touch of individuality and character to any space.

The Inception of a Lifestyle Brand

In 1974, Antonia started Graham & Green after a trip to India. She wanted to be independent and worked with traders from different countries. This led her to create the UK's first 'lifestyle' brand, bringing unique home items from places like India, Morocco, and Europe.

The first Graham & Green store opened in Notting Hill in 1974, showcasing Antonia's special collection of items from around the world. You can still visit this original store on Elgin Crescent today.

Evolution through Generations

Graham & Green has a rich history full of important moments. In 1980, they started creating hand-drawn mail-order catalogues to share their store's charm with more people.

They opened a new store in Primrose Hill in 1994, reflecting the brand's playful and free nature.

Antonia's son, Jamie, took a creative lead in 1998. Having studied at Kingston University, he began designing unique furniture collections, shifting Graham & Green from not only importing items but also creating them.

Then, in 1999, Graham & Green launched their first website, allowing people all across the UK to shop their collections online.

Milestones and Memories

Over time, Graham & Green has marked its journey with special products, like unique Birthday items with lovebird designs. After Antonia led the brand for 37 years, Jamie and Lou took over, pushing Graham & Green to grow even more.

They opened big stores in Bayswater and Bath in 2016. By 2018, Graham & Green updated their website to keep it modern and stylish for their customers.
