I love this walnut saddle stool for its simple mix of warm wood and slim black metal legs - it feels both light and durable. The gently curved seat adds comfort at a 66 cm counter height, making it perfect for kitchen islands or breakfast bars. It works particularly well in Scandi, industrial and mid-century schemes: pair it with a pale timber island or concrete bar top, plus a neutral linen pad or small sheepskin draped over the seat for added texture. Keep styling minimal by clustering a couple of stools with a low-lying plant or two on the work surface to soften the lines.

In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth.
