Our Stylist Says

I really like this shade for its versatile design and practical fit. The Elter Linen Drum Easyfit looks great in contemporary and minimalist interiors, thanks to its neutral grey tone and clean silhouette. It’s a practical choice for spaces where you want a soft, diffused light without overwhelming the room’s colour palette. This shade works well in living rooms, kitchens, or bedrooms, especially when paired with understated decor. For a cohesive look, pair it with other grey or neutral-toned accessories, or add colourful accents to create interest. As a stylist, I’d recommend keeping the surroundings simple to let the shade blend seamlessly, but don’t be afraid to mix textures - a linen drum adds a touch of tactile warmth that pairs beautifully with natural materials like wood or woven textiles.

About BHS.com

Founded in 1928, BHS is a renowned brand that caters to various tastes and budgets. From modern to classic designs, BHS offers quality items that effortlessly elevate your decor.

Historical Roots

British Home Stores, known as BHS, was founded by a group of U.S. entrepreneurs with the goal of replicating the same success that was seen by Woolworths.

Their first store was on the streets of Brixton and the brand quickly gained popularity for its diverse offerings.

Over time, their range of products expanded to encompass not just clothing and household items, but also furniture, electronics, entertainment, and even beauty products. By the 1960's, BHS already had 94 stores across the nation!

Expansion and Evolution

BHS has always been on the cutting edge of retail trends! In the 1970s and 1980s, when indoor shopping centres were gaining popularity, BHS quickly adapted. Their collaboration with Sainsbury's led to the creation of SavaCentre hypermarkets, which offered a combined retail experience of both general merchandise and groceries.

They didn't limit themselves to the UK either. By 1985, BHS opened its doors in Gibraltar, marking its international debut. Significant milestones like the merger with Habitat and Mothercare in 1986 further shaped its success.
