Description
Made in Italy, the Elkin dark grey velvet sofa offers the ultimate in high-end design with soft, feather-filled cushions that cocoon you as you unwind. The luxurious sofa combines a streamlined, contemporary box-shaped frame with sumptuous feather and foam seat cushions, and feather-filled back and side cushions, giving it an informal, slouchy look. The Elkin sofa acquires a relaxed, lived-in feel over time, but its cushions benefit from a good plumping once or twice a week to restore their shape and get the air circulating. The sofa is exclusive to Habitat and available in a choice of fabrics and leathers in a variety of colours and sizes.
Our Stylist Says
I love this dark grey velvet sofa for its sophisticated yet versatile look. Its rich hue works well in both contemporary and traditional interiors, adding a luxury touch without feeling overly formal. The velvet finish brings a tactile softness that invites relaxation, making it perfect for living rooms or cosy spaces. When styling, consider pairing it with neutral or muted cushions to keep the look understated, or add pops of colour like mustard or teal for more visual interest. It also responds well to layered textures, so incorporating a knitted throw or a plush rug can really elevate the space. Its simple, clean lines mean it fits seamlessly into open-plan layouts or more defined Sitting Rooms alike.

The Birth of Habitat
In 1964, Sir Terence Conran founded Habitat in London, aiming to bring a fresh European touch to UK home decor.
The first store, located on Fulham Road in Chelsea, became the blueprint for all Habitat stores to come. The store stood out with its distinct design, and was famously known for selling affordable pasta storage jars just as the pasta market began booming in the UK.
Rapid Expansion & Legacy
Habitat grew swiftly in the UK during the 1960s and even crossed borders with its first international store in Paris in 1973.
The brand's journey through the decades saw various mergers and acquisitions, including its integration with Sainsbury's Group in 2017.
Habitat's innovation extended beyond products; they even launched a mail-order system in 1966 and initiated the concept of flat-pack furniture in 1971.
Celebrating its rich history, the brand marked its 50th anniversary in 2014 by collaborating with past designers and commissioning a special logo.
Innovation & Collaboration
Habitat has always been at the forefront of modern design. Throughout its history, the brand has been renowned for its collaborations with acclaimed artists and designers, ensuring it consistently offers unique, limited-edition collections.
Under the umbrella of the Sainsbury's Group since 2017, Habitat continues its tradition of merging contemporary aesthetics with functional design, solidifying its reputation as a leading name in home furnishings.
