Description
First launched at Salone del Mobile in 2010, the Elephant Office Chair is instantly striking in its originality. Designed with the form and image of the elephant as a stimulus, the chair is an ergonomic structure with a subtly curved seat and aluminium legs. The natural hide leather upholstery is exceptionally supple and fastened by artisans in hand-stitched seams that recall the structure of an elephant's back bone, while the polished aluminium tubular frame legs ensure stability in a classic base structure. Award-winning design duo Eva Paster and Michael Geldmacher's shared design philosophy is to "transfer things which have got stuck in the past into the present." Their creations reveal a devotion to classic industrial design, while maintaining a commitment to developing new forms and re-evaluating function, establishing fresh aesthetic expressions from forgotten designs.
