Description

Elephant & Castle. Unrecognisable without the mammoth block of geometric slab flats and that quirky red elephant ushering locals into the dilapidated shopping centre, earmarked for demolition but somehow shambled on! Alexander Fleming House is not the usual grey and brown 'in your face' Brutalism. It is one of Erno Goldfinger's masterpieces, touted as the ugliest buildings in London. It was then granted a Grade 2 listing in 2013. I wanted to capture in this print, the image that comes to my mind when I close my eyes and think of Elephant & Castle. It is not dull and soulless like people describe it, but rather bright. A white-blue chessboard and that little red elephant with a castle on his back! It is a rather odd but memorable statue. *Sold Unframed*

Our Stylist Says

I really like this Elephant & Castle print - it offers a playful yet contemporary vibe that can elevate a variety of interiors. Its bright colours and graphic style make it ideal for modern, minimalist spaces or a quirky home office. It works particularly well styled with clean white or neutral backgrounds, allowing the colours to pop, or paired with other London prints for an eclectic gallery wall. Practical tips include framing it in a simple frame to keep the look clean or creating a display with other artworks at different heights for visual interest. Its size is versatile too, great for smaller nooks or to be a statement piece above furniture like a sideboard or bed. Overall, it’s a fun way to inject some London charm into your décor.
